A big myth in the teachings of clinical hypnotherapy is that hypnosis makes you immune from persuasion, which of course is just silly. In Can Hypnosis force you to do stuff you don’t want to do logic is used to show why.0

    Jon,

Are you a PI insurance salesman ?

  2. G. Rayner says:

Just kidding! Very interesting though as most hypnotherapy courses tell you that the subconscious mind will reject unacceptable suggestions. I have to say, though, your logic makes sense.

  3. Hi Jonathan,

Are you aware of the Danish hypnotist, who was imprisoned for 16 ys. (beginning back in 1953), supposedly because he should have hypnotized someone to do a bankrobbery, and killing 2 people?

Actually, both the robber/killer and the hypnotist were imprisoned, though the B/K was released after 8 ys. and the hypnotist after 16 ys. And the B/K admitted after his release, that he was never hypnotized. This story would be fun, if it wasn´t quite tragic.

  4. Alongside with the above comment, Danish national television, did an experiment to see if it was possible for a hypnotist to make someone rob a bank, and fire a few shots (blanks) in the air.

2 out of 3 chosen, did the “crime”.

  5. Kier says:

Very insightful because everyone says that people won’t do what they find morally wrong under hypnosis but reasonable people are convinced of things against their best interests all the time.

    Hi Jonathan,
I am enjoying your video commentary immensely. I particularly like your opposing stance on many of the standard accepted views of hypnosis. When one considers that our belief systems (AKA “BS”) are simply accepted suggestions, it behooves us to question the source of our beliefs, examine them and understand them for ourselves. Regarding the issue of doing harm with hypnosis… one simply has to look at war time, and what the Nazi’s were able to condition humans to do to other human beings. Or any of the numerous examples of genocide on all continents throughout our history. We are all prone to conditioning. Some call it a pathogenic trance state. I think it is Brian Weir that writes extensively on this subject.
Keep up the great work. You are doing a great service to expose and expand on this very important subject.

  8. Justin says:

    Hello Jonathan Chase

Just so I understand this video correctly, what your saying is that you have to change the person under hypnosis’ whole view of what you want them to do, if they wouldn’t already do it?

  9. JonChase says:

Justin, if you can’t change what people do then there is no point to hypnosis. Sure someone would say they would never rob a bank for instance but if you make them believe they won’t get caught and that no suffers then what they would do before become mute. Now they are making different choices based on different beliefs. You are changing their ‘Normal’.

  10. Ahmed Basma says:

Hello , I’ve been using a Quit smoking Hypnotherapy CDs and i was wondering does the mood of a person when starting or even before starting the hypnosis sessions affect the rate of working or even does it work at all?!
However I’ve started that Quit Smoking CD yest and yet i fell asleep and my earphones fell off ( I don’t want my parents to know that I’m smoking so I’ve to use the earphone) does that session count if i listened to like an hour before the hypnotic part begins or do i have to go through the hypnotic part to count my session as A Positive Session?!
Thanks , sorry for the inconvenience!

    • JonChase says:

No inconvenience. I have no idea what you are going on about though as it isn’t my CD. For my audio you just play it and the idea for stopping gets stuck in your head and then one day you find yourself just being a non smoker. I have no idea how long that will take either as it depends on how much you want to get there.

    • JonChase says:

As I don’t sell or make that type of thing I really have no idea.
