Hypnosis vs hypnotherapy

Are Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy the same thing?

In my experience apart from the roots they ‘appear’ to have come from and the goals to which they are used – the two are very often entirely different.

It’s rather like asking if English Football and American Football are the same. And the answer to that has to be – well they are both games where as Patch Adams says, “You watch a load of millionaires playing with their balls.” That and the fact they both use the word Football. Continue reading

The Guardian newspaper ran a piece this week in their business problems section, a sort of Agony Aunt self help section for wannabe
entrepreneurs, on the ethics of using Hypnotherapy to boost performance at work.

In “Is it OK to be hypnotised to improve my work performance?” a boss
has apparently suggested ‘Cognitive Hypnotherapy Treatment’ to his sales team to boost their performance.

Of course the author is a bit nonplussed and is questioning the ethics of being told he is sick or ill and needs ‘treatment’. Continue reading

Don’t fight it! Business isn’t a battle

In an earlier post I talk about how it’s better not to have competitors,but having read a few blogs elsewhere it amazes me how so many people see prospective clients as a fight waiting to happen.

In hypnotherapy, especially the more establishment clinical style of training, they teach you how to get around peoples resistance almost before anything else. Marketing people do the same thing showing how to address peoples reluctance or issues before you’ve even got to them. Continue reading
