On his Facebook Group – Talking Hypnosis Jon used an interesting analogy when talking in response to a statement about the best way for hypnotists to work.

Jonathan Chase:
You know there are some theories which actually stop us finding out the best way to work to change our imaginations.

It’s almost like someone discovered the best, easiest and fastest way up the mountain. Then someone, who had never climbed the mountain before, tried that route on a really shitty day and fell off. That was because they had read the map but didn’t find out from the original discoverer that it’s best to climb mountains on nice dry warm days.

Now the guy who falls off will never admit He made a mistake, so he blames the map, the mountain and the weather for His mistake and so goes off looking for a harder more complicated way to do it. He falls even more this way BUT, it is HIS way so he ignores that because to admit he goofed would mean reducing his self image.

Now he gets a few students and he teaches them to climb the mountain his way, and when they ask about the easier way he makes it sound much worse than it was and shouts about it being dangerous and all sorts. Eventually, after student has taught student has taught student, the hard way becomes the Only way and the easy simple way is lost.

Then along comes someone who hasn’t been taught the hard way and it’s a nice day so he just strolls up the mountain the easy way and all those people at the top who have been taught to struggle, fall, get out of breath and have been told that is the best way, well they say, “you got up the mountain with no effort, but that was luck. Other people have died doing it that way and had their gonads ripped off. And anyway, the ease of getting here isn’t the point, It’s the Fact of getting here. So long as we get to the top who cares how we got here.” Then they collapse in exhaustion and the fella who rediscovered the easy way, well he shrugs and smiles and ambles off thinking, “Nice view up here…..”

Steve Sheldon: replied
Agreed Jon, but then what is the best way? Is it Jon’s or Barry’s, or the hundred others out there? This is why I think experimenting is very important for the hypnotist. We all know the basics on how to climb, but which path is the quickest and easiest?

Jonathan Chase: replied
Ask the bloke sitting on the top of the mountain. The one whistling and admiring the view…

a Hypnotic High

The thing is, the truth of the thing is, that hypnosis can indeed be used to experience the world entirely through the imagination without the interference of the logical factors in your brain telling you that you can’t be bouncing on a rubber moon or floating in a psychedelic sea of used five pound notes being served peeled grapes by nubile ladies wearing not a lot. Sorry got carried away there.

The most watched hypnosis video on YouTube is entitled “Amazing Hypnosis Makes You High”. And my Auto Self Suggestion audio that gets me the most happy ‘private’ mail is designed to heighten your sensual experience in a Tantric way.

Actually you stand a far better chance of getting a high by standing on your head and trying to gargle.

The technique used of watching a spiral spinning in a darkened room will make your visual cortex play tricks with your balance for a few seconds but you won’t experience an altered hallucinatory or enhanced reality. More than likely you’ll just feel a bit sick.

Obviously watching you tube is not going to do the job, no matter how brain numbing it may be, not even the most basic Psychonautics will get produced. However, with the personal experience of a hypnotist who understands and knows what they are doing, the situation is an entirely different paradigm.

Under the influence of hypnosis as it were, you can get almost the same result as even the more escapist substances and pastimes, with the added bonus of having the whole process reversed and made therapeutic at the end, again stressing that this should be done under the direction of a good hypnotist.

Hypnosis is something we all do and get done by all the time without knowing we are doing or being done. It’s basic process, the giving and accepting of suggestion, is also how we teach and learn.

Hypnosis isn’t just a Bandaid for the emotional scuffs and scrapes of life. It can also be a fantastic tool for getting to places in our head and experience of life that would normally be available only with the danger of assaulting the physical body.

If you want you can experience that holiday you could never afford, be in space before Branson and fly higher than any pill or powder could ever get you without frying your brains, emptying your wallet, or giving you a bad case of incarceration.

Mostly it’s legal to imagine whatever you want to and providing a hypnosis high is terminated proficiently it’s about as harmful as day dreaming. In fact the benefits could well be way above normal escapism as the whole thing can be experienced for a ‘reason’.

Of course just as Doctors frown upon the recreational use of medicines, clinical hypnotherapy will frown and head shockingly tut-tut at the idea of hypnosis being used for the sake of enjoyment, happily though they neither own nor have a legal backing to disallow people using the capacity of their own minds to experience and think whatever they want to.

Of course they will shout that people will become dependant and addicted to this mental intoxication. If they do they need to think things through because if you are a good enough hypnotee for me to get you high, then you are a good enough hypnotee for me to easily be able to stop you smoking, get you to lose weight, eradicate a phobia and especially to prevent you becoming addicted to your own imagination.

Although to be honest, you already are.

==========================

Hobby Hypnotists

Hypnosis as an art is now more than ever being done by Hobby Hypnotists who outweigh the professionals 4/1.

It’s amazing I now get many more fascinated curiosity driven people on my one day learning experiences and hypnosis masterclases than I do professional therapists or career driven people.

Personally I think that’s fantastic. Everyone should know the basics of hypnosis in the same way as everyone should know the basics of CPR and first aid.

If teachers were taught to understand how and when they are using suggestion not only would they know how best to install the necessary knowledge but they would better be able to positively influence the kids in their charge.

The same of course goes for parents.

If people knew the right way to suggest and had a basic grounding in the right suggestions then even in the most traumatic situations their desire to ‘help’ could become an actuality.

One of my students once was out walking with his baby daughter when he witnessed a car smash into a lamppost. He couldn’t get the badly injured and bleeding woman out but he could and did reduce her anxiety and bleeding by the direct use of suggestion and hypnosis.

Another couple of friends who had trained with me were hiking around the Grand Canyon when with the help of hypnotising each other and ‘increasing’ the input of their senses had an experience they’ll never forget.

Now don’t get me wrong. Amateur psychotherapy is not what I’m condoning here. But the use and study and experience of hypnosis as a hobby is fine. No more damaging to the business than hobby magicians, of which I am one, are detrimental to the magic circle which would probably die without them.
Kareeokay hasn’t killed the record business and one thing is for sure, hobby hypnotists will not only drag hypnosis kicking and screaming out of the maple lined couch garage but they will make people like me who teach technique and the art, much better and more widely targeted teachers.

Long live the Hobby Hypnotist.

Persuasion and Influence. You nearly always see these two together don’t you? I use them together because thanks to usage what they actually mean is lost behind what people think they mean.

The truth is that one is usually hard work and the other – well the other just happens.

Persuasion means using reasoned argument and supplying facts to create a change of thinking in the brain of the respondent, the person being persuaded. The persuader has to convince them that whatever it is they are selling or promoting is the right thing and they need to cajole and urge. Everything they do is pre-thought and done consciously and with deliberation. Which of course means you have to keep doing it because those persuaded to get what you have will soon lose interest if you stop ‘working’ on them.

Influence however is a completely different beast. People of real influence don’t have to ‘do’ anything. Influential people are just that. They don’t need to persuade because everything they are brings in people ready to accept their stuff and to ask to get more. True an influential person can steer those who are in their influence but this happens easily and without effort. Yes this often uses persuasive language and facts and such but it’s done from a position of acceptance rather than one of reticence so you only need to do it once.

The silly thing is that it’s way harder to become a persuader than an influencer. To persuade you need to get to as many people as possible and change their minds. To become influential you need to focus yours and wait for those who think like you to find you.

That is the level of emotional maturity we get before ‘Grown Up’ becomes our preferred mask.

I was reading a marketing blog today a friend pointed me to, when I came across this wonderful description of what you get when you grow up, talking about 5 year old Austin…
“You don’t get an evolved, new mature being. You get Austin with fifteen blankets over his head.” Johnny B. Truant

Keep this in mind next time you are suggesting anything to anyone hypnotised or not and talk as if you talking to a bright kid with scuffed knees and loads of kids-smarts. The subconscious is not stupid and does make choices even if it doesn’t reason.

Of course that means when using persuasion and influence the trick is forgetting all the grown up clever stuff and remembering what it was like when you made friends faster than an ice cream disappearing and the whole world was dead simple.

Thinking of people this way is a great way of getting rid of the jitters when talking to someone your adult self says is ‘superior’. And it’s a fabulous way of not having to think up complex intellectual arguments or even harder metaphors or stories. Just keep the language simple and you’ll get through those blankets a hell of a lot easier!

Video 2 of Mike on the learning in Wolverhampton. Most people, especially those with the formal ‘relaxation is hypnosis’ background have the idea that hypnosis is all about sleep like states.

I prefer to work with people who are deeply hypnotised but to all intents and purposes are otherwise ‘awake’.

I do use relaxation but that’s just a feel good element of the hypnotic process, not the hypnosis itself.

You know one of my biggest frustrations is that everywhere you go on the internet in the hypnosis community everyone is requesting and teaching how to induce hypnosis. But what about un-zapping them? Which in my book is more important!

I call my termination procedure the ‘Wake up’ because it simply has more understanding for the simple subconscious for which ‘sleep’ is the easiest association with hypnosis.

The wake up is designed to give them a jolt of adrenaline, oxygenate them and give them what I call the hypnotic buzz! That means they become a bouncing excited energised walking advert for my beautiful art.

Actually for the subconscious mind hypnosis feels like sleep not because of relaxation, which the mind never does anyway, but because the bloody demanding and reasonable no fun adult mind shuts up and stops meoaning about everything allowing the subconscious to come out and play!

This video has been watched by over a quarter of a million people on YouTube alone. It is what you see.

The full story was Mike – the Victim – was bet by Andy a fellow attendee at a class I run in Wolverhampton when camcorder were still called video cameras and had a handle to turn on the side… – that he could be hypnotised even if he didn’t want to be…..

Mike took the challenge, said he could ‘resist me’ and the game was on!

Initially of course for the rest of the morning coffee break I was using the simple persuasion and influence techniques I teach in the Svengali System so preparing the way as it were and I’d built amazing Awe rapport with Mike.

Now remembering that hypnosis is the acceptance of suggestion Mike’s barrier is broken by the simple direction to “Sit’n Relax.” I then use a pattern interrupt, that’s anything that throws the conscious off balance, by looking at the class and announcing, “See? Got him!” That is a not embedded command to his subconscious. The rest is very easy.

Basically all I have to do after that is stare at him and wait for him to go under. I do silently ‘suggest’ his eyes closing by closing mine slowly instead of blinking. However he begins to giggle as he feels himself entering hypnosis for two reasons, the main one being he knew he was losing his bet, the other was he simply enjoys being zapped!

I ignore this and he stops and goes into a total state of gone out fascination just staring at me but that is crap for the camera so I said something like, “That’s right, sleep!” And tap him on the forehead, that’s when he drops his head forward and again laughs.

Anyone who tells you that a hypnotised person shouldn’t laugh or cry or even burst into song if they feel like that hasn’t hypnotised enough people!

Tomorrow I’ll put up the video most people don’t go on to watch, especially the ones who have said this is fake and that I am a fraud. You’ll see Mike is an excellent somnambulist and a damn good hypnotist to boot.

That evening, the first on the training, he went out before dinner with two other guys in the class, Andy an Army Nurse, and Max, who was from Russia and swore he was a lawyer but we all KNEW he was KGB! Any way they went into a pub and hypnotised two young ladies they’d never met before in that noisy environment using the methods they had learnt that day.

I just love it when a plan comes together!

Make today an awesome day!

Smiles

Before presupposition the French had a term for it which pre-dates presupposition by about a hundred years first appearing around 1845 in a history of a Franco army triumph.

The term?

Fait Accompli – which means ‘the deed is done’.That roughly means to suppose that something has already happened.

Creating a reality as if it has already happened, even though it will happen in the future, is what hypnotists have been doing as a matter of course for a few hundreds of years and what subconscious minds have been doing for ever.

“When I wake you you HAVE forgotten your name.” The presupposition there is you Have forgotten it even though that hasn’t happened yet.

What you DO with it is to act as if the result is a thing of the present rather than a thing of the future.

For instance to get someone to shut the door you could say, “You found closing the door to be pleasant.”

Don’t hide it, there is no need. Their brain won’t understand it as it has no future nor past and becoming confused will give over control to the mind. Their mind will just believe it and to make it so and fell ‘pleasant’ it Has To Shut The Door. What will happen is they will look at you with a frown or even say “What?” and then they will close the door to ‘feel pleasant’.

Of course you could just say, “Please shut the door,” but that isn’t anywhere near as much fun as playing the mind game!

So to use a presupposition move your imagination into a place where Fait Accompli! And act and talk as if it is.

I’ve often been asked about how to use covert and conversational hypnosis surreptitiously for Influence and Persuasion without the targets knowledge.

In the “Svengali System” I go into much more detail as far as technique is concerned but the bottom line is really simple.

Hide it right out front and just do it.

Don’t expect full blown trance, it’s too much trouble and you don’t need it. Go for a moment of distraction and or fascination which happens best when your targets are talking about emotive things.

Now some people claim if it isn’t trance you are not doing hypnosis it’s NLP. The fact is that the workable stuff in NLP is hypnosis, that’s where NLP came from in the first place. NLP models hypnosis not the other way around. “Trance” is a by product of hypnosis not the thing itself and real hypnotists have been using suggestion forever without trance.

In my experience that sort of hypnosis happens all the time. No, not when you are day dreaming or distracted, it’s when your subconscious takes over all together and it can be directed and steered there to the point that you just don’t consciously know it.

Creating what I call Momentous Moments, that’s moments when we pick up our beliefs which lead to our behaviours which lead to our perceptions…. creating those moments is very easy with a bit of practice. You can create this simply by repetitive tapping at a level almost inaudible, or by using questions with a repetitive theme – that’s how advertising works. And then at the right moment pop in the suggestion – which is the true art of hypnosis anyway.

Is it that simple? Yes.

Is it hypnosis? If that’s your intent then yes.

Will it be covert? If they are not a hypnotist they won’t notice.

Will it sell more Coke? Of course it already does!

Is it ethical? Well everyone manipulates and controls, influences and persuades anyway so I guess that’s down to the intent behind your using these skills.
